Okay, so Starbucks has been around since the 70s and even today in 2016 you have people who are intimidated to enter into the coffee giant doors. If you are like me and love you some Chipotle you know that right next door is usually a Starbucks. Today I sat eating my salad bowl and as I did I observed the different clientele that tends to flock to Starbucks.

Starbucks lovers to me seem like they actually think they are above the rest of the coffee drinkers in the world. I say this because that’s how I feel whenever I have my green queen fish lady throwing up gang signs at all the other coffee cups in the room, and that green straw! So powerful!!!!

But seriously it’s like a whole different world once you enter the doors. First off the music takes you into another dimension and everyone seems so sophisticated and all about their business. They represent the 1% of people with goals, because to order a cup of anything from Starbucks you must have a goal. This isn’t the place for “ummmmm lemmi get a” Becky you better know what you came for!

So I rarely ever enter a Starbucks, if they don’t have a drive thru where I can sit and think and be like “hmm ok lets get tha”, I must explicitly know what I want before entering those doors, and the funny thing is that it’s not the staff that makes the experience weird it’s the god damn customers! lol, my husband onced asked me “if they were from another planet or something” and seriously I wondered the same damn thing.

But after finding that one thing that made me a Starbucks regular. I realized that if you know the menu and the correct Italian word to convert to the size you want, then voila you are part of the weird alien coffee loving crowd! But honestly before I perfected my one favorite drink, I always felt a lack of confidence whenever I entered the store.  This link really breaks down the menu and sizes so you too can become a sophistated starbucks snob! The Starbucks Menu Demystified

Where size matters

I really don’t know if the first 3 matters, but according to Starbucks Wiki these are the sizes offered:

  1. Demi 3 US fl oz (89 ml) Smallest size. Espresso shots.
  2. Short 8 US fl oz (240 ml) Smaller of the two original sizes
  3. Mini[72] 10 US fl oz (300 ml) Smaller than the three original Frappuccino sizes, offered as lower-calorie option
  4. Tall 12 US fl oz (350 ml) Larger of the two original sizes
  5. Grande 16 US fl oz (470 ml) Italian for “large”
  6. Venti 20 US fl oz (590 ml)24 US fl oz (710 mL) Italian for “twenty”
  7. Trenta 31 US fl oz (920 ml) Italian for “thirty”

Oh by the way my husband always says “ummmmmm lemmi get a, large…”lol, my star.
Point is go with confidence until you the novice, become an expert and shine like the star we all are meant to be.

Waiting – whoever likes the action or non-action of that word? I despise waiting, especially when there is no specifics on the length of time one has to wait.  For instance you go to the doctors, you have a 9am appt but does that mean you will see the doc at 9 nope you sit there and waitttttttt.

Labor – here you are all excited that finally this beautiful kid is ready to come into the world and boom 13 hours later still waiting!

You overpay your taxes the IRS says hey you deserve a refund on YOUR hard earned money yayyyy but guess what u better wait!

But like Bob Marley said “I don’t want to wait in vain”especially  when it comes to love – should we wait? Is love the one thing worth waiting on? I will say yes wait on love but never wait too long.

    • Abbi Glines — Rosemary Beach and Sea breeze series
    • Kristen Proby — With Me Series
    • Sylvia Day — Crossfire Series

How did Bob Marley die?

img_6684Many of us know Robert Nesta Marley as the late great Bob Marley, whose music has influenced so many around the world.

As one of my favorite artists of all time, I am often posed with the question of how did he really die? you know – because I was there…wasn’t even born.

However, I particularly like this one article Bob Marley’s Death because it highlighted, assumptions that I’d never heard of before like:

Rumors persist that Bob Marley was murdered by the CIA (among other theorized assassins), with assistance from Dr. Issels, who has been reported in these accounts to be a former Nazi. The most common version of the story is that the CIA had an operative give Marley a pair of boots as a gift, and the boots had a radioactive wire hidden in them, which caused the cancer on his toe.

But in all actuality, Bob did die in Miami on May 11, 1981, officially due to malignant melanoma, a dangerous type of cancer that was found on his toe.

Cancer pain: Most cancer pain is caused by the tumour pressing on bones, nerves or other organs in your body. Sometimes pain is related to your cancer treatment. For example, some chemotherapy drugs can cause numbness and tingling in your hands and feet or a burning sensation at the place where they are injected. Radiotherapy can cause skin redness and irritation.

I love this man’s music like I love my own self. What would our world be like if he was still alive?

Bullies and Bestfriends

Bullying is something I strongly have no tolerance for. I cannot sit aside and watch social videos of people being treated badly.

I am not that person.

I was bullied as the new girl in my prep school, from around second grade to pretty much fifth/sixth grade – living nightmare!

Some of the things I had to adhere to was getting my good “becky hair” pulled on. I would get pushed and shoved standing in lines. I would have to spend whatever lunch money I had, getting these girls candy before school, sometimes I would miss the bus because of that. I had become such a pro I had started getting the sweets from the day before – lol – my sister would laugh at me, like u crazy fool.

But that was me – a peace keeper, even when it meant my happiness. The worst was when they told me not to speak to my best friend, like seriously just shoot me now! And the sad part is that I would listen. My best friend’s name was Mishca and we lived in the same neighbourhood. We would take our hour long journey home not saying a word to each other, because of my loyalty to these bullies. After I left prep school, I changed.

I changed because I was older and wiser. I demanded respect because with respect comes love and admiration, so to know me is to love me.

Over twenty years later.

Because of those bullies, today I have stories that my sister and I can look back at and laugh…not to mention my best friend Mishca.

Yoga: to bring the mind, body and spirit together in a harmonious state.

Yoga: to bring the mind, body and spirit together in a harmonious state.

As 2016 rolled in I felt the need to find a more balanced version of myself, so I thought, what better way than yoga.  I figured everyone I knew that practiced yoga seemed to have their lives in focus or at least had the mindset to realize that focus was needed.

I went along with a friend to my first yoga class in Feb. In the silence of the candlelit class my thoughts were loud, my breathing was conscious, my muscles felt sparked with enthusiasm and I felt alive! It was like a workout, without working out.

And even though today I am nowhere close to being a yogi, infact, I hardly know the basic poses, somedays I swear I sprain my fat when I try some of those poses, but guess what I still do!
